I was reading some article about people's different views of the state of the economy, and I noticed part of how it described the particular people was their age, what they did for a job, and in some cases things like how much they made or saved and what kind of car they drove. It got me to thinking. Since blind people don't drive and there's the high unemployment rate, how do blind people measure each other's status? Is it all about whether you own a Victor Reader Stream or not, and whether you paid for it yourself or got it through an agency? Is it which particular company you do your computer and phone job or whether you work at all? It's not like there are canes we can buy at a price of four digits or more unless they are those Laser Canes. Is it how many and what type/class of sighted people we know or hang out with? This has got me curious now. Thoughts, anyone?
