Hello, I am Lynette,
A Canadian residing in Berkeley.
I am a world traveller and musiclover. Music is the great bridge
between peoples and nations. My personal leanings are towards British Isles
folk music,
classic and progressive rock, modern rock if it's a little retro and
doesn't make a lot of use of sampling, drum machines and electronic
effects. I love
old timy, Cajun, early classical and Renaissance, and world music
from just about any country on mother earth, particularly fond of Andes
music, fado,
and any sort of harmony vocalizing, except doo wop.
I've travelled a bit, lived in Australia which I adore and would love
to return to one day; I've visited Italy, England, and the Caribbean,
St. Lucia to
be precise.
I'm a bookworm, and am presently immersed in Naomi Novik's Temeraire
series. I love sci fi and fantasy, historical fiction, the classics, a
good mystery,
history and autobiography with a dash of poetry.. I don't watch much
tv, but enjoy going to hear a play or a musical event. My ideal evening
would be attending
a folk, world or early music performance, preceded by an exotic meal.
Most recently I attended concerts at the early music festival and
really enjoyed them.
I like to cook and enjoy going out to restaurants, Indian, Italian,
Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, and I am keen to sample Brasilian and
Turkish, both fairly
new to me. I am addicted to dark chocolate, dark beer, and dark
roasted coffee. By addiction I am being fecetious; I am not literally
enslaved by these
lovely products, smile.
I would prefer corresponding with someone foreign-born, but am not averse to an
American, provided you have an international worldview and have lived abroad,
and can speak at least one foreign language.
. Foreign-born with the above-mentioned interests
gets first preference, however.I have a particular affinity for Russia
and hope to visit that
country soon. I adore the language, the classic literature--Turgenev,
Pushkin and tolstoy being particular favourites, though regrettably
I've had to read
them in English translation, and the music, anything on a balalaika
is heaven to my ears. Foreign languages are a plus, as is an interest in
history, travel,
and all types of music.
I love animals, especially cats & African grey parrots. I like to be
in Nature. My religion, if it exists at all tends to be a bit pagan.
I'm not averse
to any religion, provided
you are tolerant and have an open mind.
No fundamentalists of any stripe need respond to this ad.
If the above looks intriguing and interesting, I just might be the
person you are looking for as a friend.
Thank you for reading this little missive.
Peace and good fortune to all
